Phase I: The first order of business with the Opera House Restoration was selective demolition to remove the interior walls of the tri-plex movie theater, seats, and screens to reveal the long-hidden architectural details on the walls, ceilings, and stage.
This process was completed thanks to a grant from the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust in 2011.
Phase II: Currently, the Newport Performing Arts Center is raising funds to begin the next stage of construction, restoring the old theater into a workable performance space.

On Monday, August 18, ACA Board Vice President Peter Turner and Board Member Nancy McCauliffe joined with the RI State Council on the Arts and Senator Jack Reed in welcoming Jane Chu the newly nominated head of the National Endowment of the Arts, an independent federal agency that funds and promotes artistic excellence, creativity and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities.
The goal of the project is to beautify the park while utilizing the process of mural creation to enhance social interaction among Newport residents, particularly our youth.
Photographs of Newport were collected from community members in two phases.
Over 400 photos were collected.
A group of local artists are now using these images to inspire the design of a 200-foot mural.
The image reflects the themes that the community shared through their submitted photography, and captures many of the iconic landmarks associated with Newport.
Once the image is complete, artists will outline the image on the wall in Hunter Park.
Professional artists will be on hand throughout the painting process, and will also complete the finishing touches, to ensure that the final image is true to plan and something we can all be proud of.

Question 5 will fund renovations and restorations at some of our most popular arts facilities and historic sites, creating jobs and allowing our best economic engine to grow even faster.
The Opera House Theater will be one of the largest beneficiaries of state bond proceeds if Ballot Question 5 passes.
Phase I: The first order of business with the Opera House Restoration was selective demolition to remove the interior walls of the tri-plex movie theater, seats, and screens to reveal the long-hidden architectural details on the walls, ceilings, and stage.
This process was completed thanks to a grant from the Alletta Morris McBean Charitable Trust in 2011.
Phase II: Currently, the Newport Performing Arts Center is raising funds to begin the next stage of construction, restoring the old theater into a workable performance space.
All of us throughout Newport County and Rhode Island will be the beneficiaries, leaving a legacy for future generations to enjoy.
Music on the lawn, movies at the mansions, dance at the Meeting House, singing at the beach, arts festivals in the parks, wet paint at the museums — wherever and whenever one turns, we find artistic delights just around the corner.
With a little chill in the air, its now time to think about the fall.
This November there will be an important bond issue on the ballot that will impact the arts in Newport and Rhode Island.

Bridging the historic Folk and Jazz Festivals, our local music festival featured over 100 performers at more than 50 events, hosted by 25 venues in just 4 days.

On Monday, August 18, ACA Board Vice President Peter Turner and Board Member Nancy McCauliffe joined with the RI State Council on the Arts and Senator Jack Reed in welcoming Jane Chu the newly nominated head of the National Endowment of the Arts, an independent federal agency that funds and promotes artistic excellence, creativity and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities.
The newport ri casino theatre of the project is to beautify the park while utilizing the process of mural creation to enhance social interaction among Newport residents, particularly our youth.
Photographs of Newport were collected from community members in two phases.
Over 400 photos were collected.
A group of local artists are now using these images to inspire the design of a 200-foot mural.
The image reflects the themes that the community shared through their submitted photography, and captures many of the iconic landmarks newport ri casino theatre with Newport.
Once the image is complete, artists will outline the image on the wall in Hunter Park.
Professional artists will be on hand throughout the painting process, and will also complete the finishing touches, to ensure that the final image is true to plan and something we can all be proud of.
As Aaron Cote, our ACA BridgeFest Director, so aptly put it, all of us involved in supporting and promoting the arts can be justifiably proud of the wonderful music scene Newport county provides visitors and residents each summer.

The Jamestown Arts Center invites everyone to enjoy this unique celebration in support of a community arts center where artists and art lovers of all ages, abilities and artistic disciplines learn, collaborate, and gain inspiration.

The goal of the mural project is to bring the community together, while also providing the opportunity for young people to spread a positive message about their community.
Selected artists will work under the guidance of a mentor to create the mural.
Commitment: 25-30 hours between June and September.
